This weekly newsletter started out as a simple static Web site. However, over time it became very tedious for the news staff to make global changes or improve upon the content. All available time was being sucked into the mechanics of publishing the Web site. I addressed this issue by developing a new Web site using a popular Content Management System (CMS). At the time of the redesign the CMS lacked many of the features unique to a weekly newsletter, so I developed custom PHP scripts to output the pages in the desired format.
Responsibilities:
- PHP Programming – created a number of PHP driven templates used to display various content views
- Graphic Design – created a new look that established Campus Voice as it's own publication, while fitting into the overall university structure
- XHTML/CSS – merged the various PHP templates and the graphic design using XHTML and CSS
- Web Administration – managed user permissions and accounts, monitored security logs, and installed various modules
